  Simply put, they were not capable of handling an 80pax wedding. They breached the contract in several areas, I, the bride, was brought to tears when I overheard them abusing my requests for items in the contract on the night. When we asked to resolve the contract breaches, they did apologies and offer a refund. When we sought to have the money refunded, they stopped returning emails, phone calls, and essentially cut communication. We should never have paid them in good faith, and trusting them was our mistake. I hope it does not happen to anyone else, which is my reason for posting this review, rather than continuing legal action, which we had strongly considered for quite some time. Further information on the contract breaches are as follows: Despite having a clearly laid out contract including a running sheet, this information was either not read, or not given to the person in charge of managing the night. Consequently, people who had food allergies were not catered for, and had to ask for meals. There were not enough staff, and the staff they had were poorly trained. Despite paying nearly $60pp for unlimited alcohol, they did not put wine on the tables as asked, people had to line up for it. They only had one or two people behind the bar all night, hence long lines for even non-alcoholic drinks, which is not how it was sold to us. Staff did not know how to clear the table, and entree plates were still on the table while they were trying to serve the mains. I watched several staff walk by my table to gossip with others. I would ask them to clear the table, they would take one or two plates, mostly just one, and then never return. The running sheet had people being served canapés outside straight after the ceremony. They had to be asked for. People ended up inside, sitting at their tables, not mingling and enjoying the garden, which was one of the selling points for the venue and we were assured would happen by the person we signed the contract with. They sold us the venue based on watching the sunset outside their magnificent windows, which do make for a beautiful sight. The blinds were drawn the entire reception so the sunset was missed, as the staff refused to raise the curtains. The blinds and artificial light give the inside an ugly yellow colour, and makes what would have been a wonderful venue, very harsh, and terrible for photographs. They also refused to turn down the lights, so this bright yellow glow was for the whole reception. Mains were incomplete. Side dishes never arrived. The special dessert, specifically outlined and chosen in their "customised menu" was not delivered. I questioned this, and then stepped down a corridor to the bathroom to have a breather, I passed the doors to the kitchen and heard the head waiter and chef yell about me, and my demands to have what was on the contract, and paid for. This distressed me to no ends, and I spent the rest of my wedding night wishing it were over so I could get away from the people who were speaking about me in such a manner where anyone who walked into that corridor could hear it. We sent in a complaint after the wedding, and it took several emails to even get a response from them. Eventually spoke to the head of the company who did apologise and offer to do anything to make it up to us. We asked for a refund, he agreed. When we later tried to follow up on that agreement, we found our emails went unanswered, our phone calls were not returned. We did seek legal advise, and they agreed we could go further in seeking a refund from the service, but my husband and I decided we had wasted enough time on Nutmeg Catering. Our only concern is that another couple get pulled into the same trap we did, and get sold the same dream of an easy wedding in a beautiful location with good food. They couldn't deliver it for us, and ruined what should have been such a happy day. Don't do anything with them in good faith, keep the records and do not pay them a cent until they deliver, or agree to speak with you, trusting them was our biggest mistake.
